Fan Jinghua: Spent

    Spent
On the lotus leave, naked mercury
Rolls down from the huge green slope, polishing
The belly button of the small universe
A drop of coolness balances on the column head
Like a porcelain placenta opening to the above
It is not yet sacrificed to the love-shaped dragonflies
The sun throws out its poisonous rays
At the sinews of petals, and they suddenly let loose
Of their clutches on the ovary
And the dim water receives a fleet of colourful boats
