Fan Jinghua: "Don’t let go of what you want to give out…”

"Don’t let go of what you want to give out…”

Don’t let go of what you want to give out; stand still
Or pirouette, by a grass-kippahed wall or under a phoenix tree
Lock what you wish to give out to the pit of your neck like a new moon
And for a pendant, please use a glitter; you also know
When in the mountains one needs distractions to better understand
How clouds and mist embrace the intimate distance from the grave contours

It should be a guessing game that can prove
How real and tight an open palm can hold
I am neither a fish nor a butterfly; no need to cast a thread
To hook up a fatal communication or a net to capture my eternal prime

If you wish to indulge two souls, try your arsenal of classic tropes
To tease out another’s knowledge of a secret language
Or peel off your social wrappings and take a shower in the corner enclosure
Where a voyeur you exhibit to will be happily drowned in the ecstatic mist
