And Then
Comes the Thought
of the desire to take on
the primary
shape, to feel with body
the distance and
traversing, the need for embracing the bent knees, and
to think of the Seven
Stars and you underneath, and
a paddy of wetland (which
you say is a lake) that keeps white-trunked woods away
night, seeping into the
season (always cooler)
brings with it the feel of
flimsy ice, as if skin-touching
warmth sends afloat
bubbles, reflecting the
colors of a morning sky in memory
how to speak about what words
fail, the absent presence?
how not to think of what haunts
thought, the present absence?
